Lightnet builds and migrates cloud environments for SMEs – from Microsoft 365 to servers in Azure. Collaboration, access, and security improve without things getting complicated.
A clean hybrid concept uses the cloud for collaboration – and leaves sensitive systems where they belong.
Sensitive data such as accounting, customer records, and confidential documents often stay local or in a controlled SME-grade cloud storage. Collaboration – email, calendars, Teams, shared documents – runs on Microsoft 365.
Local and cloud are connected cleanly: unified identities, unified permissions, clear rules for external sharing. Before any migration we run a cost-benefit analysis between hybrid and pure cloud.
Where Microsoft 365 ends, Azure takes over: servers, device management, virtual desktops, and disaster recovery.
Run existing servers and applications as virtual machines in Azure – no hardware needed in the office.
Manage users, sign-in, and devices centrally from the cloud – with multi-factor sign-in and policies.
Workstations and terminal servers in Azure, available from anywhere.
Backup and disaster recovery in Azure, tested regularly.
Mailboxes on your own domain (name@company.ch), calendar and contact sync across devices – without running your own Exchange server.
Mailboxes on name@company.ch with typically 50 GB per user, without having to operate a local Exchange server. Reliably reachable even without in-house IT.
Email, calendars, and contacts sync automatically across PC, laptop, tablet, and phone. Changes on one device appear immediately everywhere.
Microsoft Defender filters spam, known phishing, and malicious attachments before they hit the inbox. Combined with MFA this lifts the security baseline significantly.
Migration of existing mailboxes including archive, folder structure, and calendar entries from IMAP, POP, Exchange, or other cloud providers – without data loss.
Chat, video, shared documents, and file storage in a cleanly configured Teams environment.
Chat, video meetings, channels for projects and departments. Real-time co-editing in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint – without version chaos via email.
Structured document storage per team, department, or project with clear permissions. Modern replacement for classic drive letters.
Personal file storage with typically 1 TB per user. Automatic backup of Desktop, Documents, and Pictures – even if the laptop is lost.
Sharing with customers and partners via SharePoint or OneDrive – with expiry and password instead of insecure email attachments or WeTransfer.
Approvals, notifications, and data transfers between apps run in the background instead of being typed out every day.
Typical examples: incoming invoices are auto-filed from the mailbox into SharePoint. A holiday or expense approval flows through manager and accounting. New entries in Excel or Forms trigger a Teams notification.
We build flows with maintainability in mind: clearly named, documented, and as simple as possible – so they are still understandable in two years.
The cloud is only as secure as the rules around it. We set up the baseline so daily work is not disrupted.
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is mandatory for all cloud accounts. On top, Conditional Access adds rules for devices, locations, or risk levels: a login from Switzerland on the usual laptop proceeds normally; an attempt from abroad requires extra confirmation or is blocked.
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. On request, Microsoft 365 data runs in Swiss data centres (Azure Switzerland North/West). For personal data under the Swiss Data Protection Act, we clarify requirements before migration.
Microsoft 365 comes in several tiers. The right choice depends on what the team actually needs – not on which one has the most features.
Microsoft 365 Business Basic covers Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive web-based. Business Standard adds the desktop versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Business Premium adds advanced security features like Intune for device management and extended Defender.
We analyse usage before purchase: how many users need which tier? Where do F-plans make sense for frontline staff? Which users benefit from Business Premium? So you pay for what is actually used.
Around Microsoft 365 there are concrete sub-areas – from operations to migration and automation.
Ongoing administration of users, licences, policies and mailboxes – pragmatic and traceable.
Email, calendar and rules configured properly, including signature management and shared mailboxes.
Collaboration, document storage and communication with structure – instead of everyone inventing their own.
Automate recurring workflows between Outlook, SharePoint, Teams and third-party systems – without code.
Migration from on-prem Exchange, IMAP or other providers to Exchange Online – without data loss.
User support for Teams, Outlook, SharePoint and OneDrive – remote or directly on site.
No. For many SMEs a hybrid model makes more sense: critical systems and sensitive data stay local, collaboration and email move to the cloud. We plan the migration in stages instead of as a big bang.
No. Smaller teams benefit strongly because email, file storage, collaboration, and identities are bundled in one place – without an own server in the basement. The entry-level Business Basic covers the baseline for many SMEs.
On request yes. Microsoft operates data centres in Switzerland (Azure Switzerland North and West). During setup the data location for Exchange, SharePoint, and OneDrive is selected. For processing under Swiss data protection law, we clarify details before migration.
They come along. We migrate mailboxes including archive, folder structure, calendar, and contacts – from IMAP, POP, local Exchange, or another cloud provider. The cut-over usually happens over a weekend so Monday is back to normal.
With a concept before the first click. We define clear channels and folder structures per team, assign permissions at group level instead of to individual users, and document which team is responsible for what. The result survives staff changes.
Yes. A hijacked Microsoft 365 account without MFA is the most common entry point for business-email compromise and invoice fraud – regardless of company size. The extra step via app or SMS is a requirement, not an option.
We plan your Microsoft 365 and hybrid cloud setup to fit the way your business actually works – not the other way around.
